Venezuela was only scrubbed because Maduro turned a corner and started doing socialism wrong publicly. You see Bernie knows that if given the power, he would do socialism right. And Bernie only believes it appropriate to praise countries that are doing socialism right publicly.

So in this framework, Bernie is never wrong and socialism is never an inherent failure or bad thing because it's simply a matter of all those failed socialist paradises in one way or another doing socialism wrong publicly. Therefore these failures automatically removed themselves from the pure and perfected version of socialism that Bernie's academic / theoretical exercises and modeling always produces.
