As I mention elsewhere, there are three racial phenotypes: Caucasian, Mongoloid, and Negroid. The people of India descend from Caucasians. Skin color is not a racial determinant. Where there is lots of sunlight, the skin tone is dark. Where there is less, the skin tone is fair.
