How to discern that it is a bug ? Simply count the legs, if it has six legs, it's a bug.
If it has eight, then it's yet another spider being shot from a slingshot.
No sound from the bullet picked up by the microphone?
More discussion on this here. General consensus so far seems to be that it's a flying insect, not a bullet, but I'd still like to see some kind of scientific breakdown.

Look at his jacket move as the bullet goes by in slomo. That would be one very slow moving projectile
