Ok, I struggle with this one. I understand the argument. But, if I am going to the beach for 3 hours and don't put on sunscreen I will get badly sun burned and be in pain for days. What is the alternative?
Don't stay out in the sun for too long - so don't go outside much
Go outside all the time get a dark tan (which by the way also hinders Vitamin D from the sun)
What I know:
getting sun burned hurts
getting sun burned too often may cause skin cancer
chemicals in sunscreen may cause skin cancer (reality is California lists just about every chemical as cancer causing, I don't trust CA)
Get a rash guard shirt and wear a wide-brimmed hat. We're switching to zinc-based sunscreen which is better for us because you can see where you haven't applied (lots of blonde kids). I'm not going to forgo sunscreen altogether because all four of the grandparents (70+) are dealing with skin cancer right now. Also coconut oil is naturally about SPF 15 iirc.
