These people make the Greatest arguing points for those of us who are ""Jacks-Of-All-Trades"", I may not be a Master Carpenter, but I can still use the same tools, an just as effectively, and still build a very Sturdy House....

When I lived w/my late wife, in St Augustine Beach, FL I built a steel framed home with structural steel and steel framing...people thought I was NUTS...we had a direct hit on that part of Florida with winds in the 130mph range...EVERYONE'S house on that street had some damage...OURS DID NOT HAVE ANY DAMAGE...
I rest my case...and Thank you for a VERY excellent screed....
Most regulations are there to cement monopolies and enforce use of certain products.
An honest developer or builder do not build unsafe buildings, but forcing them to use certain products or “professionals” drives up cost.
Houses built 100 years ago are still standing, they definitely don’t have the same insulation because those products didn’t exist. We had fire places and woolly jumpers.
The only regulations we need are structural and fire. Just like airbags, safety cages and brakes in a car. Everything else are optional extras.

Exactly this.
