Has he spoken at all about his military service. It seems like his book glossed over everything but boot camp, or maybe I just forgot. Did he see combat?

IIRC, 6 months in Iraq as a USMC correspondent. So in theatre, and potentially receiving fire, but not directly in a combat unit other than attached to one for reporting purposes.
