Ummmm... not that I've used Wiki for much of anything, but my understanding is that anyone, literally, can alter & update info on any page????

As long as sections are not locked by wikipedia admins then yes anyone can edit pages.

Yes, Wikipedia is open source. Anyone can edit articles.

It's good for Chemistry information. The chem needs keep it pretty well patrolled and updated.
