I've seen his name spelled as Nicol rather than Nichols... this could be an issue when digging on this guy.

The problem with the first floor window reflecting some light and calling it a muzzle flash is still the chain link fence between the building and Trump. Nicol was most likely in the other building's second floor nearest window to the patsy.
