Ok so my daughter gave birth to my second granddaughter that was premature by two months. Avery has had two UTIs since birth she is currently on antibiotics and seems to be doing well. The antibiotic regiment has been about three weeks now. Not really happy with that, however now they want to do a procedure called VCUG on her. Just wondering if their is any risk to this procedure or if we should hold off. Need help!

Not a doctor but unclear whether it’s your daughter or granddaughter with the UTI? In either case, would strongly recommend seeking a homeopath in your area.

As long as there isn't an allergy to the contrast its not a major procedure. They want to make sure that there isnt other complications contributing to the UTI at such a young age (like urinary backflow or other abnormalities)
If the VCUG is normal and the antibiotics are effective then just stay super on top of diaper hygiene, try to breast feed for gut flora, and pray for a healthy life.
How can you watch her to make sure their are no signs of a reaction to the contrast post procedure.
its rare in the young ones, typical procedure they will keep you an extra 20-30 mins, and if there's no new respiratory sounds or trouble breathing you are on your way.
Not a doctor, but it is a test to see if anything serious is causing the UTIs. Didn’t look like a big deal.
has your granddaughter been given any doses of vaccine? I suspect yes and that these issues stem from that. my first child was given hep B vax before leaving hospital and he developed acid reflux and was bloated. the doctors wanted to put him on some kind of meds, but by then I was awakening to the reality of vaccines. I said hell no to meds and my wife figured out natural goat milk formula that turned him around naturally (she wasn't able to breast feed any of our kids fully). between that and no more vaccines he's been healthy as a horse since as have his 2 younger siblings I'm so happy to say.
short of it is, try to cure the baby's issues naturally (do your own research), stay away from any vaccines (any more if administered some) and hopefully leave western "medicine" and pharmas in your rearview. the system is designed to harm kids and, at a minimum, make them dependent on constant treatments. break the chains

A VCUG can be done by ultrasound as well as x-ray. Both require catheter insertion, but with ultrasound there is no exposure to radiation or contrast material. My cousin's daughter had one done this way to check for blockages and backflow of urine into the kidneys, so it may be an option for your granddaughter as well.
She just had an ultrasound performed. They must have seen something that brings them to this next procedure.
The procedure is low risk, and they do use minimal radiation doses for babies. It's the next step if the US was inconclusive. The reflux of urine back towards the kidneys is the most common cause of UTIs in children, but a continuously moist diaper environment can breed yeast and cause issues too.
Contrast reactions are rare but can include skin rashes, hives, and itching on the mild side and breathing difficulties, fever, and flu-like symptoms on the more severe side. I hate that your baby granddaughter has to go through the procedure but hope it yields conclusive results. I'll keep your family in my prayers.
