Back in the day when Usenet was still a popular way to communicate, and serious information was being exchanged on the alts, often times barrages of porn would be spammed to disrupt the flow. People who knew more than me were able to detect it was coming from fed addresses.
I'm sure they've gotten more sophisticated in their methods. But their techniques remain the same.
