Right! A lot of folks overthink this stuff. In our history, unrest is generally sudden, rapid onset, short duration (less than two weeks) with short loss of services and lockdown, focused on urban areas, and not generally a threat to homes. A setup like I listed is affordable, cheap,($1500 total), and directly proportional to the threats you'll likely face. I will add, be sure to chain the generator to the porch so it doesn't walk off. The Fiocchi rubber batons help with that too lol. They work too, tested it on a loose pitbull that attacked me putting out trash one day. At $3/round, they're expensive (come in a ten pack), but they're a great way to send a message without the sound of a full blown gunshot, zero collateral damage, and no going to jail.
Awesome reply. Thank you. I guess I could run the generator on my porch and run a long electric cord into the apartment to power the freezer.
That's a cool radio and not a bad price.
Re: cooking. I do have a propane grill on the porch so I'll be good there :)
