UNLESS you live there it is hard to understand. Many of the shops would put bedding out at night and the dogs would stake out their own territory. Locals would bring treats or food for their dog complete with pats. I will never forget one day. Had been to the markets, bought meat and fish etc and this beautiful young street dog kept following me home. It was either hungry or smart. I went back to the butcher , slapped some lira on the counter and pointed to the stray dog. He did a lot of nice gestures, refused to take my money and walked to the back room to get meat for the so called stray dog. YEP those dogs kinda had no fixed address BUT they were THEIR dogs.
I am a dog lover. I would be feeding them. In Peru and see street dogs all over. I fed them also.
I hear you BUT trust me these so called street dogs are community pets. The turks will not give them up without a FIGHT.
So nice to hear that they are beloved pets.
