Look at most business, they are lean, with just enough staff to get the work going, people happily work overtime to take up any slack, 99.9% of the employees perform their assigned roles, and more.
Anyone not pulling their weight is fired, as much as the government has tried to prevent this due to “worker rights”.
(Of course, this is before they move into corporate territory and the suits take over).
Now look at the civil service. Think of the intelligence level and attitude of the last couple of civil servants you interacted with. Honestly look at them.
Exactly.
I had a business to run. I found that more got done with fewer employees. When there were to many employees they would sit around waiting for the other person to get done what needed to be done. Then they argued about whose turn it was to take care of certain tasks, etc., and who to blame for things not getting done. I also watched for the 'weakest link' and corrected those situations. Retired now, such headaches are gone. lol
Same, went from 10+ employees to 2. Much better.
It was honestly like running a crèche, Monday morning excuses why they can’t come to work. The only thing that is certain, they’d all be there on a Friday with the paw out.
so true! I had a plumber working on the plumbing for a home I had built (during covid, what a pain in the ass). Plumber was older and did the work himself. He said he used to have a staff of about 20 plumbers working for him with all the headaches. Says he got rid of everyone and does it himself, less headaches and makes more $$.
Exactly. Less mouths to feed.
