Stereotypes usually come from some observations that one group is exhibiting a behavior more than other groups.

It's a natural self-defense mechanism that Nature instilled in us to help us survive.

That being said, of course stereotypes do not apply to all members of that group, but stereotypes usually do come from some observational truth.
