I hate to report that it's a fruitless venture. People redpill themselves. You can give them unlimited ropes, and they will still fall, unless they don't want to. You cannot MAKE them grab the rope any more than you can make a horse drink water you led it to

I've been trying to redpill my semi estranged best HS / college friend for years. He keeps sending me youtube shorts because he's got 2 young kids and is a blue collar house painter and doesn't have "time" to cover the things I send him.

He literally has all day to listen to the things I listen to, so this is an excuse. I say this because I work outdoors, and in the house, and with others, and driving, and the whole time I'm listening to podcasts that I downloaded. I live in rural and don't have a smartphone either--he does! with unlimited data, so he could theoretically listen to youtube directly. Also, bluetooth earbuds, headsets like Openrun Shokz or apple aircocks exist. Whatever they are called, apple dangle down things that are as dumb looking as shokz

He could download the videos--AS I DO--using the same tools I have. I posted to several friends via email my 'podcast stream workflow', which is really quite simple, it's (quiterss or) RSS guard, plus yt-dlp (or youtube-dl), plus a script to download, although, there are many 'windows' and 'mac' tools with a gui that I recommended to them. There's even a linux gui that only matters to me, as I'm the only person running linux that I know (other than some of you intelligent lads and lassies here).

I even gave them my OPML file so they don't have to go and find the rss feeds for 500 news outlets on the right AND the left; including youtube video rss feeds which are difficult to find (you need the channel_id, find that and you can construct the 'hidden' rss feed). YT does not advertise this.

So with the veritable firehose of things I've sent people over the years, they are STILL sending me these context-free, facebook quality SHORTS which I absolutely hate because I know what they are: Propaganda

Even shorts of Bret or his brother Weinstein and Jordam Peterson or other intellectual dark web, rogan, etc; even if you somewhat agree with what they say, the Normieverse is going to be posting context free shorts which will have a level of ambiguity that polarizes people into two completely separate and opposite beliefs...in other words, shorts CREATE bubbles, rather than pop them.

And I hate that.

And also it means if someone is sending me shorts, that they are in a bubble, that they are being subjected to an algorithm.

This weeked actually I got really mad at my friend sending me this Weinstein short where they were saying that there are 2 democracies, one that is populist and one that is institutions voting on things. I think this is an overton window push by a Wweinstein (brets brother, the physicist guy, can't remember his name sorry)...this is an overton window push by people PRETENDING to be on our side, and they're using CIA sensemaking to "switch the real with the false" which is this idea that institutions can have their own definition of democracy

Now it's ok to say they think that, but what's NOT ok is to sell it as a choiice. You have to vigorously say, "this is framed in an abusive and logically incorrect, fallacious way....because institutions are part of the government and the government doesn't get to democracy itself by cutting 'we the people' out of the equation.
