Just my 2c, probably a lot more to it but would make a lot of sense, unlike the last one which was far too close for comfort.

It could have been both a ds op and a sting. The ds is panicking from knowing they are going to lose. They have thrown caution to the wind and are pulling all the stops. Expect more attempts on Trump.
Meanwhile the Q team, utilizing looking glass technology, are staying steps ahead of the ds actors. Perhaps why he was caught prior to Trump coming into view.
Q mentions Project Looking Glass only once.
