It has been my understanding that Bank of America was traced back to a bank established by the Payseurs (French Royalty) in Lancaster S.C.
The Payseurs owned everything from all the timber companies, railroads, banks, fertilizer, mills, auto, etc. Ironically, I once went to Lancaster to interview the power players in the area and only two people I spoke with ever heard of the Payseurs
