Thought this article relates to the conversation. Eric Adams, Mayor of NYC, was "Inducted", "Named" a Master Mason in 2023 including the City Police Commissioner Edward Caban.
As I noted before, that's not how it works at the local lodges. You don't just get "Named" a Master Mason. This is different.

They don't play by the rule any more. Is there something in their manual that allowed such thing?
Idk, but at the local lodges members go through the ranks, which I believe is an 81 month process. It's interesting, the article states, "The Prince Hall Masonic Temple — also known as African American Freemasonry — posted the photos of the event on its Facebook page over the weekend and celebrated Adams’ ascension." His ascension? I never heard that word in relation to my experience. Master Masons were initiated or conferred along with the other ranks. This was performed by the Grand Lodge which is higher than local lodges, but also was the first time performed, so different rules? Master Masons are initiated, conferred in local lodges as they are Masters of the local lodge. I doubt Adams and the rest are performing the duties at local lodges.
Two Q posts mention Ascension.
