The media will, but when talking to him like that in person he’ll be respectfully referred to as the highest office/title he held.

Basically the difference is talking about him vs talking to him.

Of course they do. They throw out all convention when it comes to trump. You don't see them say that about others presidents including recently Carter who just turned 100.
