Good thing for the pilot no one with malicious intent tried to sling a rock into his tail rotor. The Palestinians and Afghanis have caused significant problems doing that sort of thing.
Completely unrelated to the discussion at hand, I remember some excerpts from some of my old training that, if you need to engage a helicopter with small arms, you should aim for the center shaft of the main rotor.
