Some years back there was a single father Australian guy lured there off a dating site who subsequently settled in Asheville along with his only daughter with some female who part of a cult that he was not fully aware of at the time , his daughter went missing at some stage with a full scale search conducted which eventually found her body chopped up inside a dumpster, I’m not sure of all the exact details but the local police were pretty broken up about it with the step mom charged with her murder I think eventually the guy returned to Australia as a broken man … pretty sad
