I don't understand why he added the little line outside of the circle filled in. He said something about a machine not being able to add a "bounding box" but I do not know what that means.
The scanned image will render a perfectly filled in box making it impossible to know if a human actually filled it in.
As stated in the video, go outside the bounding box.
Also I would write in a candidate in an inconsequential race. It can be something unique or a candidate listed above.
If ballot images are released it will help prove your ballot was scanned and not scanned more than once.
