I wish people would get over this idea of paying taxes as somehow being a "patriotic duty". Taxes are pure theft of our energy and resources for the sole purpose of keeping us from getting too powerful or becoming independent.
In a fiat economy where the government can print as much currency as they want, taxes are completely unnecessary except to provide the illusion that you are actually contributing to society, but we know that's not where that money goes.
So if it's about skin in the game, then the people owning the most property should have more votes.
Why should someone living in a dinky little house on a tiny lot get the same voting power as someone who owns thousands and thousands of acres of land?
The people paying the most in taxes should get more votes, right? They have more skin in the game, don't they?
But if trying hard is the reason, then obviously those who own lots of land are trying harder than those who have parked a broken down trailer on 1/10th of an acre of scrub land.
What if they own a home, but they inherited it, and never worked for it? Do they still get to vote?
What happens when couples get divorced and one of them gets the house? Does the other have to start all over again in order to get their voting rights back?
Who gets to decide what "enough" work is? The average home buying power of the average income 20, 30+ years ago is much more than it is today.
I asked a retired man the other week when we were talking about all the crap going on in the world:
While you were growing up, working, raising a family did taxation force you to make choices, say 'no' to yourself, friends or family because there simply wasn't enough $ for everything you required?
Of course the answer was sure..
And the same can go for all your peer group, all your friends. The same with them, having to limit themselves/families/children because the gov. is taking "their cut first"...and the same with their Son's and Daughters....
Now he gets a bit defensive, and claims "Sure, but how else does a government and country run...."
so then I point out that all that suffering, all those "no's", all the time he or his wife and/or kids had to do without because of the taxes the government would take, combined with all the same from his entire peer group....
...Isn't even a rounding error in what the gov./country just freely hands over separately to either Israel, or Ukraine, or China, or any host of Country's... So if they could do that, they didn't need those taxes did they and all that suffering and pain was for .... ?
A character on the new Georgie show (spinoff of Sheldon) ask her mother what she's doing and the Mom replied, "Paying taxes on my hard earned money so the government can piss it away."
And I’m over here saying we should all work less / slower. Life is way to unnecessarily fast these days, and not to mention products and workmanship is cheap and worthless.
You should only be able to vote if you’re a net positive tax payer

So do I. That idea was heavily pushed during WWII, and it was so effective that they are continuing to do it to this day.
Agreed.
No benefactor of tax should have any voting rights, it’s a clear conflict of interests.
This rules out all public employees, who coincidentally tend to have very generous pay, pensions and perks, while doing the least work (the 3 P’s).

There are just too many holes in your argument.

My sentiments exactly.
If she keeps making sense, she'll end up with a headache.

I know a blue no matter who that has a job owns a home, and rides a motorcycle. What about them?
