I'm early GenX, from a former powerhouse city that got trashed with "deindustrialization." Most of the women in my family worked on the riverfront--welders, sandblasters, shipfitters, sheet metal mechanics. They also raised the kids and kept house and knitted lace curtains and played killer rounds of pinochle (a card game I never understood).

When the Equal Rights Amendment was pushed at them, they all voted against it, recognizing it as the Dems trying to drive wedges between men and women in their own communities and families.

They opposed the "feminism" pushed in the media, and they also opposed the "conservatives" who were busy offshoring American jobs and making sure that productivity gains went to Globo rather than the workers who created them.
