I once belonged to a union that had a contract with a beagle (the dog breed) farm. The union maintained the building of a client that bred dogs intended to be used for science experiments and blood harvesting.

They provided dogs to the Animal Vaccine Manufacturing facility who harvested dogs blood to manufacture one of their products. I worked for them with a crew from my union working on an expansion on an existing structure. They fill a vat full of the blood and cook it. I was a construction worker, not a biological scientist so i dont know why the hell they needed to do that and I dont know the whole process. All I know is that the smell is overwhealming to the point of making you want to puke. the staff that worked there would laugh at us for the disgust we felt for the smell of cooking dogs blood, because they dont smell it anymore or learned not to care.

I have to say, that job was from hell and one of the reasons I decided construction was not for me.
