As I understand, Britain pretended to give countries within their worldwide empire the illusion of freedom! The monarchy, which free thinking men and women, have questioned for hundreds of years, decided that the natives questioning must be addressed to keep them in line so they formulated a system whereby they could elect representatives in their country which must be activated by a representative of the monarchy which they call the Governor General! So they have basically, kept intact power while the sleeping public believe they have a choice! This is known as a zero sum game for those who understand!
