I was just thinking about that point, I believe something like a gitmo especially, can be conducted without the accused being present, and person declared guilty and then on the most wanted list. Life ruined. So be it. Also I think many of these people have flagged passports to be restricted to our country, but of course some flunky could let them leave anyway. And I do not know what the restriction is on sailing into international waters on your yacht, out where no one can arrest you.
