Joel Salatin is the man. I helped to run a CSA vegetable farm in my late 20s/early 30s and we all looked up to Salatin, Wendell Berry and Wes Jackson. I am beyond excited for our topsoil to be viewed as the invaluable commodity that it is, and for cows to stop being blamed for muh climate change. Hope RFK shatters BigAg into 1000 pieces and scatters it to the wind
Man! I knew I recognized this name the moment I saw it. In college we read a book called "The Omnivore's Dilemma" and Salatin was interviewed in that book. I remember even from back then him saying, "I'm not a cattle rancher but a grass farmer." He then explained how corn fed cow stomach's have to increase E.Coli bacteria in order to breakdown the corn which is much harder than grass and that is why when the rain hits all their patties it runs E.Coli into the irrigation pond and that is how we get contaminated vegetables at market. Cows aren't meant to eat corn. So whenever you see "Corn fed beef." That's like saying "100% Saw dust soup"

what about 'corn finished'? I have heard people prefer that, thx
I can't remember if he mentioned that or not this was a long time ago.
Me too! We are surrounded by 100s of acres of farmland and the mainstream farmers have junk for topsoil.
