I remember it like it was yesterday. Canada FINALLY removed the fucking mask mandates. That same day I went to the gym, no mask (as usual) but this time, no fight. 90% of people still masking up, and still looking at me... but not like a freak anymore, more as an inspiration or an indication that it was okay.
Over the next few days I returned the gym, each time fewer people had their mask on. 80%, 70% 60%... but a crazy thing happened at 50%. Suddenly ALL the remaining masks came off.
Most people just want to fit in, and they need societal indication to tell them what to do.
Last election I lost friends over my stance on trump. And everyone and their dog who I would meet anywhere were confidently asserting their leftist stupidity.
This time, it feels different. One person who ALWAYS brings up politics with me, simply didn't mention anything. Another told me, even though he still hates trump and disagrees with me about biden, that he's "happy to agree to disagree" and, most surprisingly, the comments on social media seem to be trending in a Trump positive way. Even my dad, who previously hated trump, told me he's glad and not surprised he was elected, even though he "still thinks he's an idiot."
Now that over 50% have voted for trump AND he won the electoral vote, the sheep, which represent around half of society, will mostly shift over. It won't happen right away. It will take a while, but their proverbial (clown) masks will come off... Wait and see!
The best thing to do is to SHOW them that real people support trump. They will wake up on their own.
I was that sole maskless person on the TTC (Toronto transit) initially. I would always calculate a percentage of maskies to gauge the awakening process and was pleased with the increases over time and very pleased to where they went to "strongly recommended" and seeing the non compliance.
What was fun was once I was the only one and then saw someone else took off their mask because I had. It was a bright spot in a couple of miserable years.
