Ted Turner hasn’t owned CNN for years. He sold to AOL-Time Warner who eventually sold the whole company (CNN, Warner Brothers, Turner Broadcasting, HBO) to ATT. ATT CEO John Stankey came in and destroyed the company when he refused to listen to the experts in the company. It’s his way or the highway so many top level employees left or were pushed out. When the big ATT investors were upset at the debacle, the board told Stankey to find a solution….and then promoted him for his incompetence. Stankey found another company that was on the verge of collapse (per their own CEO, David Zaslav) and combined the two. They spun off the Turner group of properties as a separate entity and then combined it with Discovery Networks to form Warner Brothers Discovery. Zaslav, who was failing at Discovery, was put in charge and continued the downward spiral of the company. His first company meeting was a ‘David and Oprah’ lovefest where he didn’t address the plans for the company because he was too busy bragging about Oprah’s love for him and his family. The employees were NOT impressed. He doesn’t really want anything other than the studios so he can be a Hollywood Mogul. He could be looking for a buyer of CNN.

Ted Turner and Reese Schonfeld founded CNN in 1980 as a 24-hour cable news channel.
