My husband and I are thrilled the Donald Trump has been elected President of the United States. Thrilled.
I've waited to post this because I wanted to be even minded about it. I won't be silent any more.
I am so saddened that many acquaintances who live in our new neighborhood and others who belong to a creative entrepreneur group are posting that we, who are happy, should not "gloat" - and posting veiled threats - "We know what we have to do." Some don't even live in this country - and others have lived overseas for years.
What would you be posting if the election went the other way? How would you react to the venom? You wouldn't because there wouldn't be any venom.
I use the word "acquaintances" because none of you are really friends. Those who are local dropped me like a hot potato once you knew my political views. I hoped you would become friends, but I guess not. Your loss.
Frankly, I think Obama was one of the worst presidents we've ever had. His apology tour was an embarrassment to this great nation, starting with the return of the bust of Winston Churchill. He increased our national debt to unbelievable levels. His Department of Justice is racist. (Attorney General Loretta Lynch recently referred to "gypsy cops" - a racial slur against the Romani people). He destroyed our healthcare system.
No, I'm not a racist. If you knew my personal background, you'd never even think that thought. But I'm sick of being called a racist, a homophobe, a xenophobe. I am none of these things.
I am an educated American woman who is married to a hardworking man who proudly served in the US Marine Corps. We support the man who will make us proud of America once again.
I am ashamed that I asked my husband not to wear his Trump shirt and hat to certain places because I didn't want the harassment. And I was worried about his safety because he's a Marine and he doesn't back down. For a long while I didn't want lawn signs in front of our house because I was afraid we'd have a brick thrown through the window. Isn't that sad? I would never dream of insulting or damaging property of Clinton supporters.
I am sick of whiners and complainers. If you don't like the system, get educated and work to change it from within. That's what I did.
I am sick of crooked career politicians who feel entitled and above the law. I would love to see term limits, but not a single one of them would vote for it. And when they are voted out, they get patronage jobs. I worked in government and politics for years. This is how it works.
It is time to take America back for Americans.
I'm sorry you can only accept those who share your viewpoint. I'm sorry you don't believe there's room for all American viewpoints.
Here's mine: Donald Trump is MY President.
Don't bother to unfriend me. I'll take care of it myself.
My teenage son died of cancer this year and he would have been old enough to vote in this election. He had a huge Trump sign up in his room and would have been thrilled with the results of this election and the moves that Trump has signaled so far. I take comfort in the thought that he has it WAY better now regardless of who is in office.
I am so sorry for your loss. A child's passing is hard to bear. I hope that with time you will find solace in sweet memories.
