My grandfather only had a 3rd grade education because he went to work to help his family survive the Great Depression.

That education was enough for him to grasp the fundamentals of reading, writing, and arithmetic and he ended up working his way up from the factory floor to board meetings with Lee Iacocca at Chrysler.

Kids today graduate high school yet are functionally illiterate.
