I’m not totally sure how they ended up on YMCA, but I remember the rallies originally ended w/ The Rolling Stones “You can’t always get what you want” but Jagger/Richard put a cease on that and not long after they had the Village people. I assume whomever owns the song was Ok with letting them use it.
