IMO the patch is the safest form of nicotine. Why? Because putting on a nicotine patch brings no pleasure. Costco has nicotine gums and lozenges, but no patches. Costco only stocks products that sell WELL, so the patches must not sell well. Maybe because they work at helping people quit smoking? Some reviews report that they quit smoking but are addicted to the gums/lozenges. No ZYNs either, there are definitely people addicted to those. Additionally, the patch keeps up levels around the clock. The half-life of nicotine is about 2 hours.
If you cut round nicotine patches, cut them like a pizza. Don't be like me and do a bunch of calculus to figure out how wide each strip needs to be. I used patches for a few weeks to rule out long covid as a cause of some health issues, then quit. I have cravings for chocolate and sugar, but not for the patch.
