Trump will absolutely have to eliminate taxes on working class incomes for this to work. This could be the primary step in eliminating income tax altogether.
Well, right, it can't do that if it's truly a flat tax. Right now I'm not poverty-stricken, but am poor enough not to pay federal income tax, and half of Americans are in my same boat. What's our incentive to support this?
The wealthy currently don’t pay much income tax. They buy assets and write down tax burdens through loopholes designed buy them and for them. This will force those people to pay their share while Trump is working on implementing tariffs. The working class has always paid more taxes than anyone else, unfairly and also by design. These people (us) will need to be exempt from the flat tax to eliminate them from continuing to be over burdened and paying more in taxes proportionately. The working class are who elected Trump into office and who are needed for the next MAGA candidate. So, Trump has talked about no taxes on tips, overtime, social security benefits for seniors. It only makes sense that a flat income tax be exempt from this same class during the transition to tariffs. The wealthy will have to bare the burden and can afford to. This can finally happen if the current tax code is scrapped. This is my take and hopefully I made it fairly clear. Let’s see what happens..
There is no such thing as your share, or their share. That is just brainwashed talk. The fact is that none of us should be paying tax. Tariffs were the way our founders went, not direct taxation on the people. Only those working for the federal government had a tax liability.
Since strongarming taxes upon us, government has raised taxes to find ways to use it, not to meet increased costs. They have created unconstitutional departments, programs, and causes to spend money on, and then want more like the greedy bastards they are.
“The government taxes you when you bring home a paycheck. It taxes you when you make a phone call. It taxes you when you turn on a light. It taxes you when you sell a stock. It taxes you when you fill your car with gas. It taxes you when you ride a plane. It taxes you when you get married. Then it taxes you when you die. This is taxual insanity and it must end.” ~ J. C. Watts, Jr. (1957- ) US Congressman from Oklahoma (R), former quarterback in the Canadian Football League
“To lay taxes to provide for the general welfare of the United States, that is to say, 'to lay taxes for the purpose of providing for the general welfare.' For the laying of taxes is the power, and the general welfare the purpose for which the power is to be exercised. They are not to lay taxes ad libitum for any purpose they please; but only to pay the debts or provide for the welfare of the Union.” ~ Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826), US Founding Father, drafted the Declaration of Independence, 3rd US President
“But how is this legal plunder to be identified? Quite simply. See if the law takes from some persons what belongs to them, and gives it to other persons to whom it does not belong. See if the law benefits one citizen at the expense of another by doing what the citizen himself cannot do without committing a crime.” ~ Frederic Bastiat (1801-1850) [Claude Frederic Bastiat] French economist, statesman, and author. He did most of his writing during the years just before -- and immediately following -- the French Revolution of February 1848
"The Law" by Frederic Bastiat (1848)
“The collection of taxes which are not absolutely required, which do not beyond reasonable doubt contribute to the public welfare, is only a species of legalized larceny. The wise and correct course to follow in taxation is not to destroy those who have already secured success, but to create conditions under which everyone will have a better chance to be successful.” ~ Calvin Coolidge (1872-1933) 30th US President
“It would be thought a hard government that should tax its people one tenth part.” ~ Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) US Founding Father

I agree. Not brainwashed but I understand you saying such. DC needs to decrease by 90%, my random figure, since it’s impossible to tell at this time the exact degree of waste. I’m hopeful DOGE exposes and determines this degree and that Trump and team immediately begin closing / defunding government to the same degree. Simply assuming it takes 1-2 years to accomplish this and have tariffs in place to subsidize the newly decreased government is where I would understand a flat tax on the wealthy. No others. Scrapping the current tax code is a massive step in the direction we both agree on. No income tax (0). I voted for H. Ross Perot because he understood and tried to expose NAFTA and its certain outcome. I believe he would have exposed the income tax scam as well, or I would have hoped. Regarding the elimination of income tax, which is repugnant to the constitution, the time is now or possibly never. I say it is at least soon.
