Yeah, it's not like any connection is clear. It just seems that there are loads of things to be fixing on Earth without putting resources into a project the likes of going to the actual planet, Mars. Nothing is really as it appears, so it just seems that the newly openly Qish-ness of the CiC and his immediate team suggests looking for alternate explanations beyond the obvious might be wise.

Mars lines are a short wave connection to a random.phone that then calls your wanted number so you can be patched through. Used it on my ship when I was in the navy.
