Nixon took the USA off the gold standard (Bretton Woods.). That was bad. Inflation has run amok ever since.

The Bretton Woods system was basically set up to fail. FDR set up the process to get rid of the gold standard by outlawing civilian ownership of gold coins in 1933. Nixon was basically put into that position by the cabal
