Welker: "Going back 25 years, studies show that there is no link between vaccines and autism."
(The people selling a product not publishing proof that their products are dangerous is not proof that the products are safe. Long term, double blind, placebo controlled studies are the standard for demonstrating safety and efficacy, and I'm having a hell of a time finding them for many of the products on the childhood vaccine schedule.)
Trump: "When you talk about autism, and you look at the amount we have today vs 20 or 25 years ago, it's pretty scary.
Welker: "Scientists say that's because they've gotten better at identifying it, and there's no link in studies."
(So the autism rate has always been about 1%, and nobody noticed until the last couple decades? I'm gonna go ahead and press "X" on that one. Also, what is the deal with this psycho's eyes?)
1% is generous. Sorry, but Trump got his numbers wrong. It's way higher now. I teach a normal (not special ed) class of 18 students in the 3rd grade. Three have autism, and another 6 or so have some other type of neurological issue like ADHD or language-based disability. It's been like this for the last few years. Very different from when I started teaching 25 years ago. The public school system I teach at was once very high quality as government-run systems go, but it's collapsing under the weight of special needs kids, all of whom need to be accommodated.

Yeah, the last numbers I read were between 1:25 and 1:30, but I couldn't remeber if they were current or projections.
