Back in the 70s, I took my toddler son and left my abusive husband.
My son and I lived on $200/month from which I had to pay rent, utilities, food, etc. I qualified for the WIC (Women with Dependent Children?) program. The food I could buy was very limited and no junk food was allowed. That was fine with me because we didn't eat it anyway except once a month when I took him for pizza and dollar night at the movies. He was allowed a candy bar. Took all month to save the less than $15 it cost but those are some good memories!
Bring back healthy food for families on food stamps!
