Because what sets apart Catholicism & orthodoxy from Protestantism, is that it’s not just as simple as “having a relationship”, you actually have to walk the walk. Observe the sabbath, attend Mass, attain the Holy Sacraments that were established by the Apostles.
I’ve only really recently learned about all of this in the past 5 years & I ask myself “what happens to all of the faithful Protestants that loved the lord but abdicated from his church?” I don’t know, but I am not taking that chance.
Observe the Sabbath, attend Mass, attain the holy sacraments, okay, but for what reason, to what end?
To die in a state of grace is imperative. It’s really, really interesting to study the competing perspectives on the topic of salvation. The views of the Catholics & orthodoxy are vastly different from Protestants.
So when I arrived at this conundrum, I simply had to ask myself “what is the traditional belief around salvation & has been practiced for 2,000 years of Christian tradition?” & I learned to appreciate the sacraments.
Am I understanding you correctly. You're basing your salvation on what you feel has been practiced for 2,000 years of Christian tradition, Versus what the scriptures actually say? Isn't that contrary to the words of Jesus Christ found in (Mark 7:13) where Jesus said "You nullify the word of God and make it of no effect by your traditions handed down by your father's"
Not what I feel, what has been documented throughout Christian history & practiced in the early, underground Church, yes.
The first Christian martyrs was a Deacon named Saint Stephan. He looked at the pharisees in the face and told them that they were Moloch worshipers & killed the Christ.
He was a Deacon, who helped the High Priest distribute the Sacraments.
