Bullshit, even ketoers eat more than that on average. Also that <50g day is a guideline to dumb it down for as many people as possible, the threshold varies per individual biochemistry and activity level. I tested for myself ketones and produced them when eating as high as 100g/day and my bloodwork showed excellent insulin sensitivity.
Some people eat no carbs at all. Have you not heard of the carnivore diet? I didn't even mention ketones. Do you have diabetes? Presumably not considering what you said. I think someone who does have it ought to try eating like I said and see what happens. If it helps then it's not bullshit is it? The only thing to do is try it or not. It's their choice and I don't see what your situation has to do with it.
