There is none in any supermarkets that I can see here on the south coast, not even the tinned stuff. Its the main ingredient in making HCQ and it seems to have gone. My local fruit and veg shop can't get any at all....

The main active ingredient in HCQ is quinine, derived from the bitter bark of the Cinchona tree. It's also the main flavor note in the tonic water you add to gin.

Quinine/HCQ and Grapefruit don't mix well.

It seems there is a recipe for making quercitine. I never tried it, so I am not in a position to comment on the correctness of it.
However, for fruit having been available quite profusely, the non-availability would be a noteworthy event.
As to its cause .....? No one available to pick it from the trees, like it is with oranges? And is lemon next?
It's picked by machines these days,if belive.
