Just sharing this. I was struggling with Trump's position on not wanting a debt ceiling passed. Had all negative thoughts. Is he planning to spend to the moon?
Then someone pointed out to me that every time Congress votes to raise the debt ceiling we get billions and billions of pork added to the bills.
Maybe I am just slow, and everyone else had this figured already.
And how many times have we raised the debt ceiling? What's the point of it if we're just going to keep pushing it up anyway? Why have one to begin with if it doesn't serve a purpose other than, like you said, adding nonsense to the bills?
Not sure what Trump's stance is on it, but what you're saying makes sense to me. Some of the stuff they add to those bills is unbelievable...

"Senate votes to avoid a default, sends debt ceiling bill to Biden"
You can just hear the Senators patting themselves on the back for saving America.
What’s a limit if it’s never enforced. You’re right. Stop the pretend nonsense and get rid of the ceiling. It’s a charade.
