Panama Canal is a BIG deal.

In The Naked Communist (1958), W. Cleon Skousen writes, "Objective 41 emphasizes the Panama Canal as a critical target for communist strategies to undermine U.S. power. By fostering anti-American sentiment in Latin America and portraying the canal as a symbol of imperialism, the aim is to erode U.S. control and influence in the region."

He continues, "This is part of a broader effort to destabilize Western powers by targeting key infrastructure, with the canal’s importance in global trade and military strategy making it a focal point in Cold War geopolitics."
