May be a bit overstated. The record seems to indicate about a million tonnes per year for Kilauea. But nothing to sneeze at. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volcanic_gas

Owing to SO2 in the gases, I would heartily agree. Regarding CO2, I have often thought the Green motto should be "Don't exhale."
