Classy and very true Unvaxxed 👍 - here's my take on it: With Elon coming here himself on a J1 Academic visa and staying with an H1B visa himself before becoming a citizen (an important distinction as there are many who don't go the citizenship route the way he did) coupled with the fact that JD Vance's wife is another who did much the same thing, I think this is going to serve to put a "spotlight" on that particular system which does definitely need reform. Given the backgrounds of these people in the administration, it makes it very difficult for the left to scream racism etc.. Ramaswamy this weekend pissed a lot of people off by the way he said "A culture that celebrates the prom queen over the math olympiad champ, or the jock over the valedictorian, will not produce the best engineers," I think it has more to do with [how] he said it and not necessarily what he said. His parents immigrated and he was born here, so he has a different take and perspective on that particular system. All/all I think the 72hr rule should apply and I do agree with you Unvaxxed that we need to realize that we are indeed fighting evil and shouldn't be fighting each other i.e. falling for the bait the left lays. jmo🤔
I'm married to an engineer who saw first hand the engineering "skills" of H1B Visa holders from India. He worked with them for several years, and was less than impressed with their level of education, skill levels and general intelligence. He told me most of them would be considered engineering or computer technicians. Not at a real professional grade.
For me it has been hit or miss: for every imported engineer who was just as good or better than many of the locals I worked with there was at least two who were technician-level at best. However a lot of these "technicians" knew stuff that the engineers didn't even know like how to actually maintain equipment and not engineer them to be a endless hassle for the techs and mechanics in the future.
