So now that you’re angry about foreigners taking citizens’ jobs because of “lack of talent” because of poor work ethic, what are you going to do about it, other than piss and moan? Are you going to insist on change in education and push STEM instead of league ball? Or do you subscribe to the idea of citizens first even if they’re not the best?
I'll bet that is exactly how the American Indians felt with the westward push taking their freedom and land by a duplicitous government. I agree H1B is being abused, however we need to fix our government first. My ancestors came here from Scotland, Germany and Ireland, and I thank God they did. i love this country. I don't agree with reverse DEI. Just because I am white or born here does not mean I am the best person for a job. I see both sides having worked in a hospital with a large East Indian and Filipino Nursing staff. Some were awesome, some were not.
You haven't seen what jobs are hiring with H1B have you. Qualified Americans lose jobs everyday to this program not because they are better than us, but because they are willing to work for slave's wages to get into this country.
So, fix the system, don’t throw away opportunities to get the very best. Revamp our educational system, push math and critical thinking, science for God’s sake, not this woke bullshit. Encourage and foster WORK ETHIC in the American culture again.
Yes obviously fix the system. But the whole problem is that those in charge of the system care more about cheap labor than american education and culture.
I agree with you on that. Hopefully this very loud debate sheds more light on both problems and both problems get fixed. I’m a retired high school science teacher. I can tell you that some of our students were the absolute best at math and science, competed at the state level in UIL and won in comp sci and science. They were absolute workers and the nicest kids you could ask for. That was at the end of my career. We used to have more kiddos like that at the beginning of my career, there was a 15-20 year period where students wanted the grades to get into college but they didn’t want to put in the work. We’re swinging back the other direction right now, but we still have a long way to go. I think both points are valid but we have to fix our education system too and that means parents aka society is going to have to start focusing on learning more and extracurricular activities aka sports and league ball a lot less. I can tell you that sports is what drove our entire academic schedule, who taught what and when, our bell schedule and even our school calendar, all based on sports. It was utter bs.
I wonder if this is why they are calling for reform and shining a light on this issue. The law as it stands now is hurting qualified Americans and that is unacceptable. There seems to be several different specifics to this but it's all being debated as a singular viewpoint
