Look up SS John Harvey. A liberty ship berthed at the Molo Nuovo #29 in Bari harbor Italy. It was sunk at it's mooring and dispersed it's secret cargo of mustard gas and contaminated the entire harbor December 2nd,1943. The gas killed dozens and gave a hint of it's usefulness in cancer therapy by killing white blood cells in the lymph tissue. A book detailing the incident was written by Glenn B Infield in 1976. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SS_John_Harvey
