It does sound possible, from his apparent email, that he knew some sort of dirt about a new weapon and about war crimes in Afghanistan. No way that DS wants that getting out.

General information about him seems to paint a Trump supporter. There seems to be a lot of effort into providing stuff he supposedly wrote. And we hear this right away. Hmm, haven't heard this level of stuff about the Trump assassins, have we? Or about the Vegas shooting back when. Or many many other things. BUT the information seems to make him a wacked-out Trump supporter. DS desperately needs this narrative. Trumpers as racist fascists wasn't working anymore. Maybe Trumpers as Terrorists is the New Thing.

And these people love chaos and destruction. They make people live in fear so they can be controlled. Look around at the fake news. They are having a field day with these terrorist attacks.

So, maybe DS set this up by getting to the truck ahead of time, killing Livelsberger, adding amateur explosives to the truck (kinda a stupid move on their part), and remote controlling the truck and the explosion.
