Do you remember an old movie called, "Salem's Lot" by Stephen King? The whole town burned except one mansion. Nothing comes close to it. Turn out that house lived something sinister.
If you have a swimming pool, you have a pump and sand filter. Seems to me that the logical thing to do would be route the pool water into your home sprinklers, and use that pool water to keep your lawn, trees and house damp. Just seems like a low cost means of using available water to protect your home.
